About Dr. Rich Allen
Academic Background
Rich Allen earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Arizona State University in 1998 with an emphasis on cognitive learning theory. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the same university in 1979 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts.
Experience in Teaching
Dr. Allen has real- world classroom experience as a former high school math teacher. He has also taught at Arizona State University. He began his teaching career in Hawaii by joining the staff of Punahou School, one of the top five preparatory schools in the United States. It was while teaching at the high school level that Dr. Allen developed the unique combination of math and drama that has caught the attention of experts.
Expertise and Strengths
He is an accomplished musician, songwriter and storyteller. Dr. Allen is also a talented actor with off-Broadway experience. He's performed theater and understands the value of staging, non-verbal cues and drama.
One of his best-known gifts is his knowledge of, and use of, music to enhance the learning environment. Dr. Allen has also written and recorded music for many years and he integrates voice control and use of instruments into his presentation. His knowledge of music usage provides an unmatched blend of daily, energizing music.
Dr. Allen's greatest strength is his training skills. He has world-class presentation skills and excels in storytelling, voice inflection, the use of nonverbal communication and voice range. Dr. Allen is among the best at engaging audiences and reaching the "hard to reach". His uncanny ability to enroll, enlist and engage any group of educators is perhaps unmatched in the world.
Client List
For the last fourteen years, Rich has split his time between creating and leading corporate seminars, professional development programs, and accelerated learning courses. At the Pecos River Learning Center headquartered in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Rich had the opportunity to develop and lead value alignment, motivational, and vision development programs for the top management of companies such as Dupont, AT&T, General Motors, I.B.M., and Porsche. He held a variety of leadership positions, including Lead Trainer, Ropes Course Director, and Creativity Facilitator.
Between corporate experiences, Rich has been a Director and Lead Facilitator for SuperCamp, a 10-day accelerated learning program for teens. He was responsible for training the staff, overseeing the program, and teaching the Life Skills components of the course, including the topics of effective communication, team building, and relationship skills. He has also produced motivational videotape for SuperCamp, a nationwide best selling product. In the summer of 1990 he led the team that took the SuperCamp program overseas for the first time, presenting the experience in Moscow, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
In 1990 he founded his own company, Impact Learning, which presents a variety of seminars and workshops. Dr. Allen has presented extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, England, Australia, New Zealand, and Rio de Janeiro. Currently Dr. Allen is with Education Illustrated.

In addition to his seminar work, he has written and produced two albums: Songs From The Heart - a collection of songs he personally composed, and Observations From The Gentle Star, in which he narrates four unique tales set to music. He is currently at work on his third album.
