Eric Jensen
Conference Host

Eric Jensen the Conference Host, is an international trainer and member of The Society for Neuroscience. He co-founded SuperCamp, the world’s first brain-compatible program for teens, in 1982. He is the author of more than 24 books, including Teaching with the Brain in Mind, Super Teaching, and Different Brains, Different Learners. He's currently completing his PhD in Human Development.



Daniel Amen, MD
Psych., Brain Imaging Specialist, Medical Dir.

Daniel Amen, MD is a psychiatrist, brain imaging specialist, and the medical director of Amen Clinics, Inc., in California, Washington, and Virginia. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at UC Irvine School of Medicine and a nationally recognized pioneer of the use of brain imaging in clinical psychiatric practice. He is the author of numerous professional and popular articles, 19 books, and a number of audio and video programs. His best-selling book, Change Your Brain, Change Your Life, was translated into 13 languages and his new book will be published this month called Magnificent Mind At Any Age.



Larry Cahill, PhD


Larry Cahill, PhD Larry Cahill is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior and a fellow of the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory at the University of California, Irvine. He first became interested in brain and memory as an undergraduate at Northwestern University. After working for two years at Searle Drug Company in Illinois on memory enhancing drugs, he entered UCI as a graduate student in 1984. He received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCI in 1990, and conducted post-doctoral research in Germany for 2 years before returning to UCI to extend his research to studies of human subjects. His studies of emotional memory in humans uncovered previously unsuspected sex influences, leading to his current interest in the issue of sex influences on brain function.



Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, EdD
Cognitive Neuroscientist and Educator

Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, EdD A cognitive neuroscientist and educator who studies the neurology of emotion, social interaction and culture and their implications for development at the Brain and Creativity Institute/Rossier School of Education, University of Southern California. A former junior high school teacher, she earned her doctorate at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and now lectures nationally and abroad on the implications of brain and cognitive science research for curriculum and pedagogy. She is the North American editor for the journal Mind, Brain and Education.



Spencer Kagan, PhD


Spencer Kagan, PhD is a former clinical psychologist and professor of Psychology and Education at the University of California. Kagan and his co-workers have created more than 200 structures—simple instructional strategies. His books, Cooperative Learning, Multiple Intelligences, Win-Win Discipline, and Silly Sports and Goofy Games, have been translated into many languages and are used worldwide in teacher education programs.



Leah Kalish, MA
Educator, Yoga Teacher, National Speaker

Leah Kalish, MA is an educator, yoga teacher, and national speaker on health and empowerment through yoga and creative play. She is the Program Director for Yoga Ed. and co-author of all Yoga Ed. curriculums and materials as well as the Yoga Pretzel Deck by Barefoot Books. She is featured in Living Arts/Gaiam’s Yoga Fitness for Kids videos as well as co-creator of the Yoga Kit for Kids.



Martha Kaufeldt


Martha Kaufeldt is a full-time trainer and consultant with an extensive background in brain-compatible teaching and learning. She brings a wealth of knowledge and humorous style to her dynamic presentations. Since 1977, she has taught at all grade levels and served as a district-level gifted coordinator and staff developer. Her best-selling book, Begin with the Brain: Orchestrating the Learner-Centered Classroom, provides theory-based classroom applications for all educators.



Cathie Summerford, MA
President, Fit4Learning

Cathie Summerford, MA has been movin ‘n’ groovin’across the world, engaging learners with movement and music. Her energetic, action-packed approach has earned her recognition as a California Teacher of the year, National Teacher of the Year, and California School Boards Association (CSBA) Golden Bell Program Design Winner. Her activities are kid-proof and adult-friendly—personally tested in her 6th grade and college classrooms.



Arthur Toga, PhD
Prof. of Neurology, UCLA

Arthur Toga, PhD is Professor of Neurology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). His research is focused on neuroimaging, mapping brain structure and function, and brain atlasing. He also studies cerebral metabolism and neurovascular coupling. He was trained in neuroscience and computer science and has written more than 700 papers, chapters and abstracts, including eight books. Recruited to UCLA in 1987, he formed and directs the Laboratory of Neuro Imaging. This 120-member laboratory includes graduate students from computer science, biostatistics and neuroscience. It is funded with grants from the National Institutes of Health grants as well as industry partners. He has received numerous awards and honors in computer science, graphics and neuroscience. He is Co-Director of the UCLA Brain Mapping Division within the Neuropsychiatric Institute, the founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal NeuroImage and holds the chairmanship of numerous committees within UCLA, NIH and a variety of international task forces.
